Well, I did my first 'long run'... 8 miles... in about 1hr40mins. I think I ran it better than I expected. And I caught a bit of a drizzle during the last 3 miles or so. Not much, but enough to require a good shower. I really wasn't sure at first whether I was still in shape enough for 8 miles, but I was pleased to discover that not only could I do it, I didn't feel all that tired when I was done. I am feeling very positive about this..... I plan on running tuesday/thursday this week, which also happens to coincide with a work trip up to Philly (leave tues, return thurs)..... we'll see how it goes... Hope those of you who graduated today are livin' it up! And my advice on a training program is no matter which one you pick, throw in a few walking breaks into those long runs. They're really a godsend!!!!

Interesting, very interesting... I’ve been running 4 mile loops for a while now, but alas, Rose beat me down and made me soft. It feels good to have a concrete goal again. I have absolutely no idea about training programs, but I guess that I have some reading to do.

Hmm... I am unexpectedly sore today. I really haven't been running recently..... I think I'm going to make sure that I get a good stretching session in every evening b4 bed. maybe that'll help a bit.

I checked out that program from your link, Doug. The biggest differences between that one, and the one I did (Galloway) was that my program was a 30 week schedule, the weekday runs were based on time measurements, rather than mileage, Galloway requires that you set up a run/walk ratio during the long runs, and Galloway actually has you do training runs over 20 miles. I think my plan will be to bastardize the Galloway program to shove it into 20 weeks and drop the 20+ mile days to be 20 miles. (I don't think I actually completed anything more than that during my first training period anyhow)....so initially, my mileage counts should be:
8/9/10/12/6/14/7/16/8/18/8/20/8-10/8-9/20/8-10/8-10/20/8-10(or 5K race)/8-10/Marathon.
In the program, there are multiple times you could try the 5K, I only marked that particular one, because it happens to fall on the Rose HC, and I believe Rose does a 5K as part of the festivities. I doubt I'll do any other 5Ks. As freaky as it sounds, I just don't like running enough to do a 5K.

'Sit for me.

Hmmm... did my first run since, well, last month (which was in turn, my last run since my last marathon)..... I guess it went rather well. Better than I expected, but worse than I hoped. Here's to better runs to come!
